Our exciting volunteer group includes teenagers, young adults, retired school teachers, airline crew and everyone in between and extends from classroom activities, field trips and fund raising to event coordination and administration support. About SNF Group:
The Special Needs Families (SNF)
took its first step as a family when a group of families with special needs
individuals resolved to begin a new chapter in the lives of the region’s special
needs individuals. The first step in 2003 was motivated by a handful of parents
whose aim was to achieve a sense of community for their special needs loved ones
–this family now stands at over 146 members strong.
The first step of the SNF
has now traveled (and continues to do so) a great distance. The SNF group now
hosts its own centre, THE SNF CHILDREN DEVELOPMENT CENTRE, a centre with the
ultimate goal of integrating the special needs individuals into society as independent,
motivated individuals. SNF aspires to better prepare its students for mainstream
life via personal management, functional academics and society participation for
leisure and vocational skill development.
